Tell me about newborn photography?
Newborn sessions are really special, nothing prepares you for the amount of overwhelming love you feel for your new baby. Every little thing they do is a delight for you ~ the first pucker of their lips, their first yawn, the look of wonder on their faces ~ and don't even get me started on their wriggles and little purrs! It's a special honour to be able to capture these moment for you, they change so fast! I will document this new story of their life, capture their innocence and uniqueness, to provide you with these memories to cherish forever. As your newborn photographer I will soothe and comfort your baby and pose them gently and naturally.
When should I book my newborn session?
After your 20 week scan would be the prefect time to book in. Then we would look at booking you in during the first 3 weeks of their new life when babies are at their most sleepiest and relaxed.
What should I expect at my newborn photoshoot?
All session take place in my studio. We have sofa's for you to relax on and drinks and snacks for you too. As my newborn photography is mainly baby led, I simply position them in their relaxed state to capture all the little details for you. Sessions last up to 2 hours so nothing is rushed, with plenty of time for feeds and comforting.
What should I wear for my newborn photoshoot?
For studio sessions you are welcome to bring your own clothes for the shoot, but aim for neutral or solid colours and avoid anything with logos or patterns on. We do provide white dresses and white onesies for your newborn session to provide a clean and timeless look. Soft palette colours such as light grey, almond and soft pastels would look great too.
How long is my newborn session?
The session evolves at the the pace of your baby, it is a very calm and gentle process. I ask my clients to set aside 3 hours at the most, as it involves a lot of gentle soothing to get the best poses.
Can we have a newborn photoshoot at our home?
Absolutely, newborn photoshoots at your home can create beautiful memories and would look amazing on your walls. I am happy to talk through styling and colour options as well to match your personal prefences.
I love the simplicity of your images, but what if I want something different?
As mush as I love the timeless white and classic look, I do understand you may be a family wanting something with rich beautiful colours. This is why, along with outdoor sessions, I offer a more personalised service where you can help create something more unique in the studio as well. Keep in mind that we would not be able to create as many flow poses and images as the timeless sessions, and this is for clients wanting perhaps just one truly unique piece of art.
What happens after my newborn sesson?
You will be invited back to the studio 2-3 weeks after your session for your viewing appointment. This is when you will see your beautifully edited images for the first time and it's one of my favourite parts ~ it's often very emotional and very special! I will have prepared the best images from your session and these will be digitally shown and this is where you will decide which collection you would like to choose, and whether you would like and more prints or even wall art.
