Maternity Sessions

Waiting for your child to be born is a very special time in your life, a wondrous moment waiting to happen. I love to capture women at this time. Maternity sessions can be taken either in my studio or outside on location, and typically lasts between 1 ~ 2 hours. The best time for a maternity session is between 28 and 34 weeks of pregnancy.

FAQ

When should I book my session?

Book as soon as you have decided you would like to have a maternity shoot, ideally in the first trimester. Sessions will take place in the third trimester when your beautiful bump is at it's most rounded. For Mother's that are still working, I do have some weekend sessions available upon request, so booking earlier will help ensure you get the most convenient time and date for your shoot.

Can you tell me about the session?

Your maternity photo shoot is best suited during the last trimester of your pregnancy. This is a wonderful time to capture the first bond with this new life that you have created. My goal is to empower you and help you look and feel your best, and capture this this through studio and natural light. These sessions include the use of our beautiful maternity gowns and the choice of a professional make up artist to give you that extra confidence boost. You may not be feeling good about yourself or even a bit self-conscious, but it's my job as your photographer to show you what a beautiful Mother to be you are and to capture that for you. One day in years to come, your child will look in wonder at their beautiful Mother carrying them close to her heart forever.

What should I bring with me?

As gowns are provided for you, all you need to bring is underwear that is black and white/nude in colour. If your partner is coming for part of the shoot too, the best clothes for them to wear would be neutral in colours such a plain white t-shirt. I do have some beautiful little dresses if your Daughter would like to be in the shoot; and for a Son the same advice would be to dress in neutral colours too.

I don't want to wear a gown, what other options are there?

I you don't fancy wearing a gown, you are always welcome to bring in your clothes. Jeans / dresses / dungarees, whatever you feel comfortable in.

What to expect?

The sessions take place either inside my studio, or out on location if requested. During the session I will take photographs of you by yourself, as well as with your partner and/or children if you would like. The sessions lasts an hour, but can be upgraded to a longer session which is the better option for including partners and/or children.

What happens after the shoot?

You will be invited back to the studio 2-3 weeks after your session for your viewing appointment. This is when you will see your beautifully edited images for the first time and it's one of my favourite parts ~ it's often very emotional and very special! I will have prepared the best images from your session and these will be digitally shown and this is where you will decide which collection you would like to choose, and whether you would like and more prints or even wall art.
